always-be-on-time

One of my pet peeves… running late.

I always try to leave at least 10 minutes earlier than I know it will take me to get somewhere, so that I know I’ll be on time.  Doesn’t always work out that way (can you say school mornings!) and especially when you have to factor kids and Husband (who is my chronic leave-it-to-the-last-minuter) in to the mix.

If you’re a chronic running-late-type, try these 4 tips out for size:

  1. Don’t feel the need to do ‘one more thing’ before you walk out the door. Whatever it is will be waiting for you when you get home – trust me!
  2. The advice is to add 10 minutes to each half hour of travel time required to get to your destination. Don’t want to waste time waiting on the other end? Use that time to catch up on your favourite magazine instead!
  3. Routine. Routine. Routine. It was a life-saver when the kids were little and is still my saving grace at times now!
  4. Learn to say “no”. Over-committing is going to do no one any favours.

I’m not good at forgiving the late though. Personality flaw?!

Just might need to find some tips of forgiveness next!
