Admitting wrong is an act of the strong

it’s not always easy to admit you were wrong

I know it’s something I can struggle with – especially when it comes to the Husband…

I think many of us struggle with admitting we were wrong, but there are ways to admit your mistake and not feel totally uncomfortable in doing so.

  1. Admit the truth to yourself.
Possibly the hardest part of the process – we’re all human, after all, and we all make mistakes.  If you own your mistake (and the consequences that come with it), you’re going to be more sincere in your apology.  And it puts you one step closer to working through how you’ll say you are sorry.
  2. Try starting with “I was wrong and I’m sorry.”
A sincere apology – speaking words of genuine regret to another for having harmed, denigrated, or insulted another person is some way – has an almost magical power to repair frayed relationships. Say it and mean it. Then move on to discussing it.
  3. Now talk about what you’ll do differently next time.
By taking steps to ensure that this same mistake won’t happen again shows that you’ve taken it seriously – however big or small it was.
  4. Engage in a little self-reflection.
It’s time grow from your mistake. Become a bigger, better person. And try not to screw up again the next time.

Admitting you’re were wrong and apologizing for your mistake is not an act of weakness – quite the opposite, in fact.

admitting wrong has the power to build relationships and respect

Sure, you’re probably going to mess up royally again soon enough, but at least you know how to say sorry… and mean it.

When was the last time you admitted you were wrong?
