DUST Conference – Saturday 14th August
This is the view I woke to this morning… magnificent, do you agree?!
After breakfast with the Family, I was off to Day 1 of the DUST Conference.
Our morning started out with a talk from Trish about teaching your craft as an income stream. Being an ex-teacher, I think I’d be okay at it, but all the same, I’m not sure that is a path I want to pursue at the moment.
My first crafty session was Crochet with Meggan of Art Nomadix.
Now, my MIL has tried to teach me crochet a couple of times before. I’ve never been any good at it, at all, ever. So I hoped that Meg would be able to help me learn.
Turns out I’m really not destined to Crochet. Fingers that are thumbs, tense shoulders and seriously NOT enjoying, I gave it up and Crocheted with my fingers…
Now that I LOVE!!
Thinking, I’ll have to try and incorporate it in to my work somehow…
It was a fabulous morning though, and everyone had a seriously good time – learning to crochet and getting to know one another a bit more.
Lunch with the girls, and then the afternoon session was Zentangle Doodling with Melanie and Jade of Wiccked.
Zentangle was developed by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts, and its benefits and uses are numerous. Personally I can see the awesome benefits of it as a stress-relieving therapy.
Both the kids came along as well – this is definitely an activity we will be doing more of at home.
Then it was back off to the room for a wee rest before dinner out with everyone.
It was an awesome day. The best part for me was meeting this amazing and diverse group of women. We are all from such different walks of life, and yet we hit it off so well.
The art and passion of handmade is the element that we have in common. An element that transcends our ages, our backgrounds and binds us together in a unique way…
