In the process of re-energizing my Twitter account the other day, I discovered that I’d been nominated for a Liebster Award by the gorgeous Clare of Cats Eats Dogs.
Thank you Clare!
The Liebster Award is believed to have been started in Germany and is given to bloggers by bloggers. The literal translation of liebster is dearest, so I see it as a way of spreading the love to bloggers with not so many readers – a way of saying “Hey, I think your blog is worth stopping by and I’m going to share it in my little slice of the blog-o-sphere.”
The rules have been bent and moulded to suit the giver, but they kind of go like this:
- Link back and thank the blogger who awarded you.
- Answer 10 random questions about yourself.
- Copy & Paste the award to your blog (you can use mine if you like!)
- Nominate 5 blogs to receive the award (or 9 or 10 or 11… however many you want really!) and create questions for them to answer.
- Let them know of their nomination so the loving can spread around.
Here are the answers to the questions that Clare left for me:
Favourite colour? Black. My comfort colour. My MIL hates it and always tries to convince me to not wear it. It’s the base of my wardrobe, though I do pair it with a bit of white, grey or red (I’m so not a floral girl!)
Best book in the whole wide world? This is a tough one……… Can’t pick just one. It’s impossible. There are just too many good books out there to have only one favourite.
Sandals or boots? Boots. We get cold weather here on top of our mountain for about 9 months out of 12 – and sometimes in the middle of summer as well – so boots are a must!
Reason to blog? I started blogging as a way to connect with the world back in 2007, when I was house-bound after injuring my back. Now it’s a way to share to the things I love and to connect with wonderful like-minded people.
Listening to? Set the iPod to shuffle and see what comes up!
Phone or camera? Definitely the camera. I’m a self-confessed camera-snob.
Vintage or modern? If I only had the two to choose between I’d say modern, but I lean more toward tribal given the choice.
Holiday destination of choice? There are so many places I want to see, but current top of the list would have to be a return trip to Melbourne. We were there in September and I fell in love with that city.
Where do you write? At my work desk, which is often is a state of disarray.
Paper or screen? Paper. Call me old-fashioned.
So now I get to nominate some blogs that I love.
74 Lime Lane: I’ve been following Kellie’s blog for a little bit now. Introduced to me by Jess of Epheriell, I’ve had the distinct pleasure of meeting Kellie in person and count her as one of those wonderful like-minded people I’m pleased to call a friend.
Little Eco Footprints: I drop by Tricia’s blog from time-to-time for a little bit of eco-hippy-loving-goodness (my words, not hers!). Love that she’s a heart unto my own, living with less and closer to nature.
Tractor Girl: Julie’s blog is a favourite of mine for her design and photography posts – inspirational-goodness.
Steeped in Beautea: Janine’s is a relatively new blog to my feed, but she’s already become a firm friend.
Creativity Inspired: the lovely Leilani and I have known one another for a few years now. Another of those like-minded souls, and one that I have promised myself to one day meet in person.
And now for your questions girls!
- What would you like to see more of in the world?
- If you could take a week off now, where would you spend it?
- Favourite music to sing along to in the car?
- Favourite way to spend a Sunday?
- Your favourite way to wind down?
- You are most inspired by?
- What gives you tingles?
- What’s your favourite piece of trivia?
- Tea or coffee?
- The favourite thing about your hometown?
Yay! I love your blog and love the answers too! Tribal, I like that.

*blush* Thank you Clare!

Hey Tasha, thanks SO much for nominating me! I really appreciate it, even if it’s my policy not to participate in these things on my blog.
Anyway, here are my answers if you’re curious!
1. More of? That’s too easy – Beauty of course. Because beauty makes us happy, & that’s worth having.
2. A week off? Remote & spectacular, somewhere like the Flinders Ranges. BY MYSELF. 🙂 (OR, somewhere in a well-equipped jewellery studio!!)
3. Fave music changes frequently. Currently listening to Tom Waits, The Knife and Deb Conway. Also PJ Harvey any time.
4. Sunday is home-made Pizza Sunday in our house. Apart from that, I like to spend my Sundays sewing, or catching up with friends. More likely it’s catching up with the washing though.
5.Winding down = glass of wine & music up loud, dancing around the house, like nobody’s watching. (Partner & kids are used to me now & just ignore) 😀
6. Inspiration comes from everywhere. There is much beauty in the everyday, and I am ALWAYS in awe of the amazing inventiveness and vision of artists in all fields of creativity.
7. Tingles? see no.6.
8. Struth! I have a head full of trivia. I sometimes wish it was full of focus instead. Um… lettuce contains chemicals that calm you down when you’re stressed. Google it.
9. Coffee. The proper stuff. (I do drink tea too.) – white, no sugar.
10. There’s a network of subversion under that beige suburban exterior. I love my friends!
haha, that was fun!
Cheers, Julie xx
Awesome Julie!
Loved learning more about you – and love ‘network of subversion’ – need to come to your hometown and check it out!!

Congratulations Tasha!
I really enjoyed reading your answers.
Aww shuks! Thanks for the award Tasha.
I’m hopeless at passing on awards sorry – because I’m forever chasing my tail and trying to pretend I’m not busy 😉
Have a great week. T
