FAQ

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

Long gone are the days of everyone wearing a white shirt and matching (likewise, avoid black clothing too). Choose outfits that coordinate, but don’t match – for example, pick a neutral colour and add a few colourful brights or try a softer palette that has different tonal ranges of the same shade. Layers and textures are beautiful and create interest in photos, adding another dimension to the overall texture of the image. On your feet… your shoes do matter, so please consider them carefully (and be prepared to take them off!) TIP: Try choosing a colour that matches your eyes!

Although this is very much a personal choice, choosing clothes that are timeless will ensure that – whatever your style – your photos won’t look dated years from now. TIP: If you want to get the most out of your poses, you need to be able to sit, squat and stand in your outfits.

DO YOU POSE US?

Most people aren’t totally comfortable knowing what to do in photos, and it’s my job to help!  Depending on the photography package you chose, I will cater my direction during a sitting around your personality. If you are someone wanting to be told how to stand and where to put your hands, I can definitely do that. However, if you would prefer less direction, we can definitely work to a lifestyle documentary manner of shooting where I provide minimal suggestions and capture what naturally unfolds.  To be honest, it usually ends up being a combination of both!

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY STYLE?

I’ve always been a little different… It’s something I’m proud of now.  Being a Mum myself, has meant that I’ve learned to be relaxed and let things flow, and this is how I approach my photography as well.  I like to play with light and composition, to find a way to make your photos stand out from the crowd.  To capture those moments that will make your heart sing, and to create a piece of art that you will love to have hanging from your wall.

THE LOCATION

Family photography works really well in and around your home, or at a scenic location that suits the look you are after.
Your house does not need to be perfect and you will be surprised that some of the best photos are taken in unlikely spaces.  If we are shooting indoors we will need at least one room with good natural light.
When we do a lifestyle session I may need to move some small items around just to minimise background distractions.

BOOKING & PAYMENT TERMS

Having professional portraits taken is an investment in your family’s memories and creating heirloom pieces that your children can show their children – meaning you want quality right!
While you may initially think my portrait photography collections are more than what you wanted to pay, just be mindful that you are paying for my time and expertise as a photographer, and with the collections offered you know exactly the amount you are spending and what you get in the way of digital files and/or products up front, without a dollar to spend after that.

A sitting can be booked over the phone.  To book a sitting or ask any other questions, please call me on 0437 523 027.  Weekends tend to book up quickly, it’s never too early to book!

Once booked, you will receive a Session Guide with information on what to wear and how to ensure a successful shoot.

50% of the sitting price is payable at the time of booking to secure your sitting date and time.
The balance of the sitting price is due 48 hours prior to the session.

Session locations over 100kms from Walcha, New South Wales, 2354 will incur a $70 travel fee.

Payments can be made by direct bank transfer or credit cards are accepted through my PayPal service.
No images or products are released until full payment has been made.
All payments are non-refundable.

WHAT HAPPENS IF WE HAVE TO RESCHEDULE?

Sitting dates can be rescheduled, with at least 24 hours notice, for another date subject to availability.
Sittings cancelled by the client are non-refundable.

AND WHAT HAPPENS IF IT RAINS?

Sittings may be postponed at the photographer’s discretion due to unfavourable weather conditions that may affect the result of the images. This usually only applies to outdoor location sessions.

HOW SOON CAN WE EXPECT OUR PHOTOS AFTER OUR SITTING ?

Your images will be ready within 14 days of your session.

HOW WILL WE RECEIVE OUR PHOTOS?

Your photos will be loaded onto a USB, with digital files in both colour and black-and-white.  Once your USB is ready for delivery, I will call you to arrange a convenient time to drop it off to you.

WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY ‘EDITED’ PHOTOS AND A PRINT RELEASE?

I spend time on each and every final image that I will be giving to you, working with each of them by hand to tone the colour, smooth any imperfections, and produce heirloom pieces of art that are up to my artistic standards – the same quality of work you saw in my portfolio. The frosting and the sprinkles – ta dah!

Each of the final images that I present to you represents my talent, creativity and experience.  And I want the most beautiful and stunning images from the day to be the ones that grace the walls of your home.
A full print release means that I will deliver your photos to you digitally, at full-size with no printing limitations.  In today’s digital age, I think you should have full control over how many copies or how large you want your images to be, and I will provide you with the full-sized digital files to give you that freedom.

DO YOU OFFER CANVASES, PHOTOBOOKS OR PRINTS?

Yes, I do have the option of adding those to any package.  If you are interested, please ask.
