“Singleness of purpose is one of the chief essentials for success in life, no matter what may be one’s aim.”
John D. Rockefeller, Jr.
Quite often I wake in the night with a design idea. That’s when I reach out for my paper and pen that live on my bedside table, and scribble a few quick notes by the glow of the street lights outside. I find if I don’t get the idea on paper, then it keeps me awake.
When the creative ideas so start flowing, it is so tempting to try and complete them all-at-0nce-and-by-yesterday!
I love it when the creative juices flow, but it can also be quite tiring. Trying to keep up with it all, get it all done – while the urge is there.
It quite often doesn’t happen, of course. Life gets in the way instead. Kids, cooking, washing, school runs.
So instead, I write a list. Get the ideas sketched on paper, and then tackle them one-by-one.
By creating a singlenss of purpose, and focussing on one project at a time, it is much easier to see it through to completion. And much more satisfying.
So how do you create? Are you kept awake at night when the ideas start to flow? Or are you one to have a table full of half-finished projects??
