Do you love books?
I’m throwing today’s post open to you all today… let’s see how many want to play?
Either leave a comment with the name (and some reasons why you love it!) of your favourite book.
Alternatively, leave a link to a post on your blog where you’ve written about your favourite book.
Me?
I read heaps. And when I say heaps, I mean HEAPS!
My favourite book would have to be “The Bronze Horseman” by Paullina Simons.
Why do I love it?
There’s love, war, hardship, determination, history and more love.
I cried the first time I read it and immediately started hunting for the next book in the series – “The Bridge to Holy Cross”. More crying and on to the last book – “The Summer Garden” – where their story comes to an end.
I lay up until all hours when I read these books. I can’t put them down, because there is something in their story that resonates with me…
What are your favourite books?
Well now that’s a hard one Tasha. Asking me what is my favourite book is nearly like asking which is my favourite child. I have a pretty eclectic taste in books from crime to adventure, fiction & non-fiction. I think i can name one and a reason why, but i will preface it by saying that Matthew Reilly is my all-time favourite author, i have loved every one of his books and even have 3 of them signed (will soon be 5).
As for my favourite book i will say Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. I first read it in yr 11 & it opened my eyes up to the possibility of books. Before this i had read the babysitters club and started to wander into Patricia Cornwell novels. But this was something else.
Firstly i had to read the book for school so i thought urgh, secondly it was set in war (double urgh) and it was old (triple urgh). So i begrudgingly started reading but was very quickly enveloped by the story.
I love the wit in this book, the dry humour and the way it stays with you but you can’t quite put your finger on why. I’ve read it again since, but have now lost my copy (which was the school’s copy that i never returned). I’m always looking around in secondhand bookshops and sales for another.
So hard i’ve just thought of another fave for another reason…..
I know what you mean about pinning down the favourite book Sarah 🙂
It took me about 3 days to narrow it down to “The Bronze Horseman”. I’ve got stacks of other books that I read and re-read as well. And like you they are varied in the genre.
Funnily enough, Husband has been struggling through “Catch 22” for the last couple of months. He couldn’t get in to it, but was determined to finish (you know that feeling!?). I may well have to pick it up myself and have a look!!
