Today I featured the talented Rachel of Miss Isa – whose Etsy shop is chock-full of gorgeous stationery, made from recycled and repurposed papers.
As a stationery-nut myself, I had quite a wonderful time wandering through Rachel’s shop. Not only does Rachel create pencils, but she also stocks garlands, notebooks, embellishments and envelopes as well.
She has shared a bit about herself with us here today…
1) Tell us a little bit about yourself…
I love winter. In fact, my whole family does. We like to snuggle, bake, sew, study, and tease each other to near madness. Hehe. I homeschool my two children, which keeps me crazily busy and when the school day is done, I head off to my study and work on pencils. I’ve had an obsession with stationery since I was a teenager and it always bugged me that pencils were so boring and the cool ones that I could find were so expensive. I’m very pleased to be able to offer the most reasonably priced unique pencils I’ve ever seen in Australia.
2) What time of day are you at your creative best?
Mid to late afternoon. When school and the house work are done and I can clear my head and work.
I do have rituals. I cut everything the night before I put it all together never on the same day. I always have Hamish and Andy on my laptop playing to make me laugh while I’m working. Goodness knows what I’ll do if they stop podcasting. I’ll only have the Daily Show and the Colbert Report left! Hehe.
I get a lot of inspiration from my children. They are fascinated by both the running of the business and the creative side. My Husband is amazing. I think he’s constantly thinking of ideas. He’s wonderful. DUST (Down Under Street Team) is a group of the most amazing and inspiring women I’ve ever met! They’re so generous with their knowledge and I wouldn’t be were I am now without them.
4) How do you squeeze crafting into your busy life?
Good question. Um, I wake up and I run. Then I go to sleep.
5) What are you working on now?
I’m working on wholesale orders for some more stockists around Australia. I’m so excited to find that businesses are appreciative of the reasonable price of my pencils and that they’re selling very well. Phew!
6) What three tools could you not live without?
Good quality paintbrushes, the best sharpeners I can find and my netbook.
Thanks for letting us get to know you Rachel!
