Can you believe that this portrait was created using the bottom of a coffee-stained cup?

The creator – Hong Yi aka Red – is an artist who likes to paint.  Just not with a paintbrush.

Red says that this project took about 12 hours to finish and that the coffee was a challenging medium to use.  Too little water meant the rings didn’t form easily and too much water led to the rings blending into each other.  Drying time, in between stampings was essential as well, in order to make sure that the lighter rings remained visible under the darker ones.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to make a cup of coffee!
