{shop Australian handmade} Stalley

{Images from Stalley on Made It}

After our trip to Tasmania this Summer I was delighted to come across Stalley– a handmade designer from Launceston (which is my Sis’ current hometown and the one place in Tassie where we spent the most time!)

Up-cycled, original and earth-friendly, their Made It studio houses the cutest little coin purses and some delightfully Aussie-themed linen.

Quite partial to the Tasmanian Tiger tea-towel myself…

Tasmania – Day 11

Today we’ve taken a boat cruise around Macquarie Harbour, out to Hell’s Gate and then up the Gordon River…

Absolutely stunning.

Luckily for us, the weather was calm so the boat was able to go out of Hell’s Gate and in to the Roaring 40’s.

Hell's Gate

The view up the West Coast, which on the drive in to Strahan yesterday took my breath away, left me even more speechless from the ocean side.

Raw beauty of the West Coast

We stopped off on Sarah Island – another of the penal colonies that Tasmania is known for.  There is very little left of the original buildings, but the view alone had me wishing I had a home on the island (although I’m not too sure I’d be saying that in winter!)

A brutal history with a stunning view

After lunch we stopped at a temperate rainforest along the Gordon River (think Save the Franklin River from the early 80’s).  And even though we were asked not to pat the trees I couldn’t help myself, I had to give one some love.

Sharing the love with a tree that is so much older than me

We’re on the road again tomorrow.  Heading back up in to Launceston for New Years with Sis, and a final cousin catch-up before this holiday draws to a close and we return to reality.

Tasmania – Day 6

A late start – after another late night.  The sun doesn’t go down until about 9 p.m. here in Tasmania, and I think it’s starting to catch up with us all.

Cataract Gorge today, so the kids can go swimming and wear themselves out enough to go to bed at a reasonable hour, so Santa can deliver all the presents!

The weather is hot, and we’re all feeling it.  The kids needed to cool down and ended up swimming a couple of kilometres up the river under the supervision of Husband.  That meant my Sister and I got a chance to sit under a tree and have a good old catch-up!

Tonight we’ll try to get them in bed at a reasonable hour, but they’re all getting excited about tomorrow being Christmas Day (which equates to opening presents) so I think we might be fighting a losing battle.

Tasmania – Day 4

Day 4 in Tasmania and we’ve stayed in Swansea last night.  All the kids have been wanting to do is take a walk along the beach…

An hour and four full pockets of rocks later, we all managed to meet up together on a little point where I found a series of rock stacks.  Obviously someone has created a cairn… for what reason, I wonder?

We’re off to St Helens now, and then it will be Cher and Dave’s after that.  The kids just can’t wait any longer to see their cousins!
