The DUST’y Road Trip

DUST Conference Weekend – The Road Trip – Friday 13th August

I’ve been eagerly waiting for this weekend.  A chance to meet some of my fellow DUST’ers – lovely like-minded ladies who are passionate about handmade.

The Family is coming with me.  They will have a weekend on the Coast – a bit of Daddy-Children bonding – while I do crafty stuff…

To get there though, we’ve got a 500 kilometre road trip ahead of us.

We’re on the road by 9 a.m. – a good start.  But, what road trip wouldn’t be complete without road works.

Before we know it, it’s time to stop for lunch at Ebor Falls.  We’ve got company – a baby magpie who hasn’t yet learned to be afraid of people…

Turns out that Daughter is afraid of magpies though.

A magnificent view while we ate lunch…

And then a stroll to an amazing set of waterfalls.

And then down the mountain we go.  I don’t travel as well as I used to – and the bendy-windy roads do my stomach no favours.

When I say bendy-windy too, I mean bendy-windy…

And then there’s the guy getting arrested in the middle of the road – police, hands behind head, kneeling and handcuffs.

Don’t know what happened there, but it’s out bit of super-excitement. (Am I bad for taking photos?!)

And then there’s more road works…

And we have to watch out for koala’s.

Travelling has taken it’s toll on the Small Boy…

The trip that should have taken us 7 hours ended up taking 9.

Delays with road works, arrests, accidents and detours made for a very long day, but we get there in one piece.

And I finally get to meet some of the DUST girls – hooray!!
